Monkey World Ape Rescue Center, (near) Wareham, Dorset

You may be have already heard of Monkey World from the t.v. series Monkey Business (check out Animal Planet channel).

The first thing to point out about it is that it is not a zoo - it is sanctuary for primates found in all forms of captivity from horrendously tortured Spanish beach chimps (check out Charlies story!) to pet Oragnutans found wandering the streets of Táichung City, Taiwan.

From their web site : " Our mission is to assist governments to stop the smuggling of primates from the wild. At our Centre the refugees of this barbaric trade are rehabilitated into natural living groups."

I have created this as it's own section of the site as I envisage it being a long term project. We visit Monkey World at least once a year (it is a hell of a drive from Hull!), so I will be adding to it over years to come. The photos may not be the best on the site, but it is more about plugging the good work that they do. So please browse the photos and then go and support them by adopting a primate - a great gift for your kids, nephews or nieces.
Thanks, Kevin
