Lake Garda, Italy

The next leg of journey took us from Venice to the southern shores of Lake Garda. The 4 hour journey took us past Verona and the vast vineyards of Soave, eventually arriving at Camping Bergamini (approx 5 km from Peschiera del Garda) mid afternoon.

Stopping off for petrol at an Autoroute service station highlighted one of the biggest cultural/social differences between British and Italian attitudes. In Britain we're not allowed to use a mobile phone on petrol station forecourt - in Italy the very attendents who will fill your car up have no qualms about smoking a lit cigarette at the smae time. Three attendents on the forecourt, all three of them smoking. Deathwish or just relaxed? Not sure but I was glad to get out of there.

We spent 4 days on Lake Garda visiting nearby Sirmione and Malcesine, where we were able to take a cable car to the peak of Mount Baldo at the Northern End of the lake.
