Our third stop was Venezia (or Venice in English). Departing from Pisa at 10:00 we arrived in Venice eight hours later - the journey prolonged by an unscheduled three hour wait in Jaguar dealership in Padova, waiting to find out why the engine malfunction warning light had come on half way through the journey. After being assured that it was nothing to worry about and could wait until we got back to England we got back on the road, arriving at Camping Serenissima, in a little town called Oriago situated along the Riviera del Brenta some twenty kilometeres from mainland Venice. We spent only one day in Venice, catching the number 53 bus, which runs by the campsite every thirty minutes, we arrived in Venice at about 09:30 and stayed until the last bus back at 23:45, a long day but nowhere no enough. I would recommend setting aside at least one week for anyone visiting - there is so much to see and take in. I would also recommend that you have plenty of money saved as it is not cheap, being by far the most expensive place that we visited (including Monaco, which we didn't find to be too bad). |
