Palazzo Ducale, Venice

Another 'arty' shot of arches, this time of the Palazzo Ducale (or Doge's Palace), which faces onto the Grand Canal alongside St Marks square.

The palace was the residiency of the Doge (duke) - who was the the chief magistrate and leader of the Republic of Venice, elected into the role by the citys aristocracy.
