Basilica di San Marco, Venice

Fri, 5th August 2005

The Basilica di San Marco is the most famous of the churches of Venice. It lies on St Mark's Square, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace and has been the seat of the Patriarch of Venice, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice since 1807.

This shot shows the main entrance into the church, and hopefully captures some of the incredible detail invested in the architecture and decoration of the building.
